At the end of March, the Italian ombudsman for the rights of people imprisoned or deprived of their personal freedom has presented his first annual report to the Chamber of Deputies. By visiting and monitoring places of freedom deprivation such as prisons, immigration centers, mandatory sanitary treatments and so on, the ombudsman was able to evaluate conditions of detention facilities in Italy and solve potential issues related, such as overcrowding, fair treatment and radicalization within the penitentiary environment.
