The lower house of Italy's Parliament has approved a law legalising cannabis for medical use. The bill allows doctors to prescribe cannabis for pain therapy, the cost of which will be covered by the National Health Service. It also establishes uniform criteria across the nation, ensuring patients have equal access. The law also promotes further scientific research on possible medical uses, on development of production and on processing techniques to simplify recruitment. There is nothing in the law, which now moves to the Senate for the final approval, about recreational use.
