Italy's Chamber of Deputies recently approved the new decree.

In Italy, a new decree on security has recently been approved, allegedly with the aim of promoting safety in society. But the new decree is facing major objections by Antigone and other civil rights organizations. The decree gives mayors additional, unjustified control over public order, with the purpose of eliminating social marginalization issues. This results in a violation of citizens’ equality and a criminalization of socially marginalized people to an unprecedented extent, which is unacceptable and will be obstructed from Antigone through advocacy and a legal action.
