A 57-year-old man from Pakistan, who has been living in Italy for many years, is now imprisoned in the Rebibbia jail in Rome to serve a sentence for drug trafficking he took part in 19 years ago. During those 19 years, Iqbal Muhammad led an honest life in Italy, starting a family and never trying to hide from justice. He is not the same man he was two decades ago, but now he must spend almost 10 years in prison, in obvious violation of Article 6 of the Convention on Human Rights (right to a fair trial). Iqbal's only remaining hope is a presidential pardon.
