The Court of Savona has decided that changing personal documents regarding gender is a priority for a person’s well-being and is not contingent on sex reassignment surgery. The court ordered the rectification of the gender and name of a transsexual person in the official registers, even though that person has not yet undergone surgery. Judges have considered every relevant objective and decided that this step is essential for the psychological well-being of a transgender person.
