Croatia violated the European Convention on Human Rights by refusing to grant a residence permit to a lesbian from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European Court of Human Rights has ruled. The court said that the woman was a victim of discrimination. The local police department in the town of Sisak refused her a residence permit for the purpose of family reunification - she wanted to live with her partner in Croatia. Police claimed that her request did not meet the conditions of the Aliens Act. All of her appeals, including to the Constitutional Court and Ministry of Interior, were rejected.
