Despite the fact that two Bulgarian courts had blocked the deportation of Turkish citizen Abdullah Buyuk, saying that he was wanted for "political reasons" in Turkey and that he could not be guaranteed a fair trial, the Ministry of Interior handed over the 43-year-old businessman to Turkey without giving him a chance to defend himself. NGOs and activists criticized the actions of the Bulgarian government and called the deportation a humiliation and a "deal with the devil."
