A recent study conducted by the Lithuanian Gay League reveals that gay students in Lithuanian schools still face discrimination. More than half of respondents indicated that their classmates would call them by insulting, offensive nicknames "often" or "very often," with a similar number (52 percent) claiming that teachers did not get involved when people are bullied for their sexual orientation or identity. Homophobia remains a grave structural problem, both in Lithuanian schools and with the public at large.
