After fiercely criticizing the planned tightening of asylum legislation in Germany, lawyers took to the streets in nationwide protests. They called on the federal government to respect and implement EU law as well as European and international human rights conventions. They denounced, among other things, the accelerated procedures and the fact that the legislation would make it possible to deport refugees even in case of significant health hazards. The lawyers are supported by therapists and doctors' organizations. In order to pass the bill, an expedited procedure in the Bundestag is planned.
