A French man has been given the first fine under a new law against street harassment. He has to pay 300 euros after slapping a woman's behind while standing in line for a bus. He also made lewd remarks about her appearance. The man was visibly drunk was held by the bus driver until the police arrived. He was also sentenced to three months in prison for what the judge ruled was an outright case of sexual aggression. The French government passed the legislation in August with the aim of ending predatory remarks and harassment, and it allows authorities to issue fines of up to 750 euros.
