France's foreign trade secretary has said his country wishes to stop negotiations on a transatlantic trade pact (TTIP) between the EU and US. "There is no more political support in France for these negotiations," Minister Matthias Fekl said. A formal motion to halt the negotiations will be proposed at a meeting of EU foreign trade ministers in Bratislava next month. The TTIP would create the world’s largest free trade area, but opposition to the agreement has grown recently as European governments have grown concerned that the deal tilts heavily in favor of the US.
