The former boss of the Union of European Football Associations, Michel Platini, has lodged a complaint against Switzerland with the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), alleging his human rights have been violated. The ECtHR has confirmed that it has received an application from Platini, a star player for France in the 1980s who later became president of Europe’s football authority. Platini is appealing against an eight-year ban from football, later reduced to four years, imposed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association ethics committee because of financial wrongdoing.
