In an effort to improve its human rights record ahead of upcoming tournaments in Russia and Qatar, scandal-stricken FIFA has hired an expert to develop a plan for its adoption of the UN's guiding principles on human rights. John Ruggie, an author of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, will look into the relationship between FIFA's business dealings and human rights issues, such as on the labor front, and release a publicly available report of his findings.
