The European Commission will propose new measures in June that make it easier for police to access encrypted data on internet apps like WhatsApp. The decision, announced on March 28 by EU Justice Commissioner Věra Jourová, came after interior ministers from EU member states increased pressure on the EC to introduce new rules to help police crack secure encryption and access private data. Jourová plans to announce several options including legislation and voluntary agreements with companies to allow law police access to information from encrypted apps.
