The public prosecutor in Amsterdam demanded on October 18 a long suspended prison sentence for a 25-year-old man from Amsterdam who is suspected of traveling to Syria or Gaza in July 2014 to join ISIS as a combatant. The public prosecutor demanded 15 months in prison with 13 months suspended and two years probation. The reason behind the long suspended prison sentence - with probation supervision as a condition - is to "make the suspect understand the importance of not reoffending." During his arrest, the man was carrying two knives and an axe.
