There is a lack of cultural diversity in the police, says police chief Erik Akerboom of the National Police Corps. Police commissioner Max Daniel recently stated in an interview with de Volkskrant that the police will lose its societal support if it does not hire more people with a multicultural background. Akerboom believes diversity in the police force is a priority. The different backgrounds of police workers can improve their work, because there would be a better overview of the important issues in society.
