The Rotterdam philanthropic foundation De Verre Bergen (The Faraway Mountains) has bought a hundred houses in the last couple of months in order to house Syrian families with a residence permit. The foundation also invests in language courses, education, job coaching and integration for the families and finances research on the efficacy of the program. Only Syrian families can take part in the project, because De Verre Bergen looked for "a group of newcomers that are homogeneous in language and culture." It eases teaching language courses and aids in research on the group.
