Around one year ago, the Italian government started discussing the legalization of cannabis. The legal proposal put forward following this discussion was a positive step towards legalization for both therapeutic and recreational use. Moreover, it was regarded by many as the best solution to fight drug trafficking by criminal organizations. But one year later, the law has been completely discarded. So far, the only slight progress made concerns therapeutic use. Further discussions will be held in September, but the government does not seem likely to introduce major changes.
