The Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson completed 76 investigations into discriminatory job ads in 2015 and launched a further 54 in 2016. The majority of such ads contain requirements that give advantage to one's sex, age or appearance, more often applying to women than men (for example, in the service industry). Some ads were also exclusive to one sex — a company could be looking for a "talented, quick-witted and clever young man" or a "male VIP customer manager." In order to reduce the number of such ads, the Office of the Ombudsperson issued guidance on proper job advertising.
