The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination published its concluding observations on the Italian periodic reports. The Committee expressed its concern on the persistency of discrimination towards the Roma and Sinti communities, on the reiteration of the practice of forced evictions, which have a negative impact on children's ability to remain in school, and on the fact that these communities are still living in segregated and remote camps. Moreover, it recommended that Italy halts the construction of more camps and ensures the inclusion of the communities in Italian society.
