The Supreme Court confirmed on March 29 the convictions of three defendants for race defamation and incitement to discrimination by the Court of Appeal of Arnhem-Leeuwarden. During a demonstration in 2011 in Enschede by the extreme-right Dutch People's Union, the suspects had shouted, "Ali B. and Mustapha, do go back to Ankara!" Previously, the court had decided these statements were aimed at affecting morale and to discredit race in a broad sense. Hence, these statements became defamatory in character and incited to discrimination.
