Residents of the Matulji area responded with civil disobedience to the building of a razor wire fence along the border between Croatia and Slovenia. The locals are upset because of the behavior of the Slovenian Army.

The local residents launched a "sabotage mission" in the border area and removed part of the wire fence that the Slovenian government set up to stop refugees from passing through an "undefended demarcation line," although this area is not a part of the migration route. And even if it were, razor wire is not a solution.

After the residents' action, many initiatives were launched by other locals, from wine producers, hunters, and hikers, to people who live next to the border fence. One such initiative was a massive wire cutting action on December 19 to further show that there is no place for wire fences along the border.
