The massive storage of data by Dutch intelligence services is a violation of to the right to privacy and the protection of personal data. That is why the 2017 Intelligence Act needs to be amended. This law lacks a maximum period for data storage and intelligence agencies can circumvent legal safe guards. This has become an even more pressing matter since it was revealed that the Dutch armed forces have secretly been collecting data from civilians on a large scale since the start of the pandemic.
