The three men who splashed paint on a 21-year-old woman have been fined 1,500 lev (about 750 euros) after being charged with hooliganism. The crime was committed last year when one of them invited his ex-girlfriend to talk about their prior relationship. While talking, another man approached from behind and poured five liters of paint over her head. The third man filmed the attack, which was later explained as "revenge" for the woman's "unfaithfulness." Attorney Margarita Ilieva of the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee commented that the ruling is a failure of the Bulgarian justice system.
