A British teenage boy suffering from "significant" mental health problems has been held in solitary confinement for over four months, a court has heard. The 16-year-old boy was detained alone in his cell at the Feltham Young Offenders Institution in London for 23.5 hours a day, and his mother is claiming the "inhuman and degrading" conditions breach the Human Rights Act. The High Court in London has been told by that the justice secretary has "conceded" that the boy's placement in solitary conditions had breached his right to a private life and was unlawful.
