The number of asylum seekers currently "in limbo" in the EU is likely now greater than the combined populations of Cyprus and Malta, estimates indicate. More than a million people who sought asylum in European countries in 2015 and 2016 are still unsure if they will get it, a new survey by Pew reveals. According to the survey, those awaiting a decision typically live in 'repurposed schools, hotels, or airports'. Although they generally have access to food and medical care, the vast majority do not have the right to work.
