The initiative Academic Solidarity objects to the integration of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb and the Catholic Faculty of Theology. In their opinion, this constitutes an attack on the secular nature of the higher education and represents a new attempt to integrate church and state. "We want free and open education, which is ready to question the world in a critical way. We don't want the university to be a watchdog system and promoter of narrow-minded and backward ideas, which serve only to preserve the current status quo," says their statement.
