Italy will celebrate on October 3 a National Remembrance Day for Victims of Immigration for the first time. This means that every October 3 will commemorate the Lampedusa shipwreck, which occurred on this day in 2013, when 366 asylum seekers were killed. People all over the country will be prompted to reflect upon the drama of people trying to escape war, persecution and starvation and ending up dead because of Europe's insane migration policies. The hope is that we will eventually learn to put people before borders.
